12 September 2017, 9:30 a.m., Gudrun Witzler (AWI library): h-Index & Co:
Sooner or later all scientists face the question of their h-index and other bibliometric figures. But how can I calculate my h-index? Why do I need an ORCID? Where & how can I register for it? How can I fill my ORCID profile easily? Where can I get an introduction to
Web of Science & Scopus? What is the "Master Journal List"? Do I need a ResearcherID? The library can give advice and will support you.

10 October 2017, 9:30 a.m., Dr. Claudia Hanfland (AWI, POLMAR): Information on POLMAR Outgoing Scholarships & funding options for scientific stays abroad, reports from POLMAR members

14 November 2017, 9:30 a.m., Dr. Susanne Gatti (AWI, HIGHSEA): Alternative Lehrerberuf? (in German)
The federal states of Bremen and Niedersachsen (and some more) are presently facing a severe (and apparently increasing) shortage of highschool teachers. The shortage is large also in natural sciences and related topics - and motivated career-changers are more than welcome to become teachers.

Susanne Gatti will lay out some of the boundary conditions for changing into school and also present AWI's highschool project HIGHSEA:
http://www.awi.de/arbeiten-lernen/aus-der-schule/als-highsea-schuelerin.html

HIGHSEA is offering a perfect opportunity to test yourself in a teaching environment with "easy" high schoolstudents. If you want to give it a noncommittal try you are welcome to test your teachin abilities. Hence, if teaching young students could be an option for you, you are more than welcome to join the seminar. It could be the road into a permanent position....

The talk will be in German, as teaching at school will also take place in German.
Video conference will be arranged to Sylt, Helgoland and Potsdam.
